The Autumn Color Run is home to one of Colorado’s best half marathon routes. Held each year on the third weekend in September as the aspen leaves are changing from green to gold. The half marathon route begins just above the picturesque Cottonwood Lake (9,600 feet) and winds through forest service and county roads back to town (8,000ft). Half marathon runners are bussed up to the start and may leave a small bag on the bus.
